Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has declared its intention to assume the role of opposition both at the federal level and in Punjab.
During a press conference held in Islamabad, PTI leader Barrister Saif, accompanied by the leader of Qaumi Watan Party, announced that the decision to sit in opposition has been made under the guidance of the party’s founding chairman.
He emphasized that had the election results remained unchanged, PTI would have secured enough seats to form the government with a majority of 180 seats at the center. However, discrepancies in Form-47 led to the alteration of results, affecting candidates who rightfully won in Form-45.
The PTI leader expressed concern over the implications these actions could have on future generations.
Furthermore, Barrister Saif highlighted that PTI has reached out to other political parties to jointly protest against electoral rigging. Notably, Jamaat-e-Islami, JUI, and Mahmood Khan Achakzai have already protested, while Aftab Sherpao has lent an ear to PTI’s concerns.
Sikander Hayat Khan, the chief of Qaumi Watan Party, added that his party shares serious reservations regarding the election outcomes. He mentioned that after thorough consultations within the party regarding PTI’s proposal, they will announce their future course of action.
