British darts player Luke Littler, a two-time world champion, has said he has achieved more than Spanish football star Lamine Yamal and considers himself the best current athlete born in 2007.
Asked if he was the most dominant athlete in the world, Littler said it was difficult to make that claim at present, especially after Jannik Sinner’s Wimbledon victory.
However, Littler said his way of winning matches, his performances and his success in major tournaments could be considered among the best.
Littler won his second world title and all six major televised tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation in 2026.
The British player also questioned Yamal’s influence at the World Cup despite Spain winning the competition.
“Spain won the World Cup and everyone is talking about Lamine Yamal. But I want to say, he did not do much, did he? Maybe he scored one goal and provided one assist. Is he the best 19-year-old player in the world? No, he is not,” Littler said.
Littler has recorded 66 victories from 76 televised major tournament matches, giving him the best winning percentage in history so far.
Yamal, who became a World Cup winner with Spain this summer, also won Euro 2024 with the national team. With Barcelona, the young forward has collected six trophies, including three La Liga titles.
