Pakistan's security forces killed 12 terrorists in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in Balochistan's Washuk and Mastung districts, the military's media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted on August 5 and 6 as part of the ongoing Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad III, aimed at accelerating efforts to eliminate terrorism across the country.
The ISPR said security forces launched the first operation in Washuk district on August 5 after receiving intelligence regarding the movement of terrorists. Troops effectively engaged the militants, killing six terrorists.
A second intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mastung district on August 6. During the operation, security forces exchanged heavy fire with terrorists, killing six more militants.
The military said a terrorist hideout was also destroyed during the Mastung operation.
The ISPR reiterated that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue nationwide counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
It added that operations would continue until the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism is completely eradicated from the country.
