The federal budget proposes a development allocation of Rs 2 billion for the Ministry of Law and Justice in the 2026-27 financial year, with Rs 1.18 billion set aside for ongoing projects and Rs 820 million for new schemes.
The largest single proposal is Rs 500 million for land, a boundary wall and a guard room. A further Rs 346 million is earmarked for a Federal Courts Complex in Peshawar, and Rs 300 million for the construction of residences for judges of the new Federal Constitutional Court.
Documents indicate funds have also been set aside for the residences of the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court and other judges, with Rs 20 million allocated to inspect the high court judges' residential project.
Two superior-court registries are in line for upgrades: Rs 295.1 million is proposed to expand the Supreme Court's Karachi Registry, and Rs 226.6 million to build an administration block at its Quetta branch.
The plan funds public-facing facilities as well, with Rs 261.7 million proposed for a facilitation centre in the district judiciary and Rs 228.3 million for a facilitation centre at the Islamabad High Court. The Federal Sharia Court's Peshawar camp office would receive Rs 39.1 million.
On the administrative and digital side, the budget proposes Rs 50 million to build the capacity of ministries' legal wings, Rs 16.8 million for the offices of the Attorney General and Advocate Generals, Rs 16.7 million to automate federal courts and tribunals, Rs 12.2 million to digitise records and legislation, and Rs 3 million for the Ministry of Law's planning and monitoring unit.
