A combination of strikes from Alex Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong and an own goal by Bremen's Olivier Deman contributed to Leverkusen's comprehensive win.

Xabi Alonso's men, who started the match in second place, responded emphatically to Bayern Munich's narrow win on Friday, reclaiming the top spot and holding a two-point lead at the end of the weekend. Leverkusen's exceptional form continued, maintaining an impressive record of 17 wins and one draw in 18 fixtures across all competitions this season.

Leverkusen's relentless attack immediately forced an own goal from Bremen's Deman, setting the tone for the visitors. Frimpong doubled the lead just before half-time with a powerful shot into the top corner.

Although Bremen's Marvin Ducksch appeared to narrow the deficit in the second half, the goal was disallowed after VAR ruled it offside. Grimaldo sealed the victory with a third goal 15 minutes from time, marking his fourth goal in the last three league matches.
