Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Vienna on a two-day official visit to Austria, marking another step in Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with European partners.
He received a warm welcome at Vienna International Airport, where a contingent of the Austrian armed forces presented a guard of honour.
Upon arrival, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accorded full protocol and warmly welcomed by Austrian officials. A contingent of the Austrian Armed Forces presented a formal salute at the airport, highlighting the significance of the visit.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Atta Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the prime minister as part of the Pakistani delegation.
Meetings with Austrian leadership
During the visit, PM Shehbaz will hold bilateral and delegation-level talks with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. Discussions are expected to focus on matters of mutual interest and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Austria.
The prime minister and the Austrian chancellor will also co-chair a meeting of prominent businessmen, aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties.
Pakistan-Austria Business Forum
As part of his engagements, the prime minister will participate in the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum, where economic collaboration and commercial opportunities will be highlighted.
The meeting with leading business figures is expected to explore new avenues of cooperation in trade, industry, and investment.
Address at UN event
PM Shehbaz is also scheduled to address a special event organized under the United Nations in Vienna. His participation underscores Pakistan’s continued engagement with multilateral institutions and global diplomatic platforms.
In addition, the prime minister will meet the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency during his stay.
The meeting is expected to focus on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and other areas of shared interest.
