The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, has undergone a detailed medical examination inside Adiala Jail, with doctors preparing a comprehensive report that is expected to be presented before the Supreme Court.
Sources say his eyesight has started improving following treatment, while the PTI has rejected the examination results.
A medical board formed by the government conducted a thorough medical examination of Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. A two-member panel of expert doctors carried out a detailed check-up lasting approximately two hours, during which all necessary tests were performed.
Despite waiting for the family, Khan's relatives did not arrive during the examination process.
According to sources, the medical team has completed its report, which is likely to be sent to the government today. The report will subsequently be presented before the Supreme Court.
Signs of improvement
Imran Khan's eye was examined by two specialist doctors. Dr. Nadeem Qureshi of Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital assessed his eye condition, while Dr. Muhammad Arif of PIMS also conducted an examination.
Sources said Dr. Arif of PIMS had previously performed a medical procedure on the PTI founder’s eye on the night of January 24 and 25.
The latest medical findings indicate that the founder’s eyesight has started improving after treatment. Doctors have expressed satisfaction with the progress so far, noting that the injection administered has produced positive results.
Sources further revealed that the founder’s eye condition is improving rapidly. A second injection is likely to be administered in due time, depending on medical advice.
Expert doctors will also provide their opinion on whether shifting the PTI founder to a hospital is necessary or whether treatment can continue within the current set-up.
Opposition informed
According to sources, the opposition leadership has been briefed on the latest medical report. Two opposition leaders were specifically informed about the improvement in the founder’s eye treatment and his recovery progress.
The upcoming medical report will include complete details of the examination, treatment procedures, and progress observed so far.
PTI rejects medical examination
However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has rejected the medical examination conducted by the government-appointed board. The party maintains that the examination cannot be accepted unless it is conducted in the presence of the founder’s family members and personal doctors.
On the other hand, the opposition parties continue their protest in Islamabad for the fourth consecutive day on Monday.
Members of both the Senate and National Assembly are staging a sit-in inside Parliament House under the leadership of opposition leaders. Prominent figures present include Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and Asad Qaiser. Other leaders participating in the protest include Faisal Javed, Shandana Gulzar, Aun Abbas Bappi, Falak Naz Chitrali, and Noorul Haq Qadri.
At the same time, separate sit-ins by members of the National Assembly and provincial assembly are ongoing at the Parliament Lodges. Punjab Opposition Leader Moinuddin Qureshi, along with MNAs including Iqbal Afridi and Osama Hamza, is present at the Parliament Lodges lawn.
The cafeteria at the Parliament Lodges has been closed, causing difficulties for members in accessing food and drinks. A heavy police presence has been deployed at the gates of the Parliament Lodges, and roads connecting the Lodges to Parliament House remain blocked.
In addition, members of the assembly led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi are continuing their sit-in at KP House.
Protesters have made it clear that the sit-in will continue until the PTI founder is transferred to a hospital. Members of the National and provincial assemblies have demanded that he be shifted to the hospital immediately and without any delay.
