A report submitted by amicus curiae Barrister Salman Safdar regarding the health condition and prison facilities of Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, has come to light.
According to the report, Khan has stated that his vision in both eyes was normal until October 2025. However, after October, he began experiencing continuous blurred vision. The report states that he repeatedly informed the jail superintendent about his condition.
According to Imran Khan, the jail authorities did not take any effective action to address his complaints. Later, he suddenly and completely lost vision in his right eye. Following this, ophthalmologist Dr. Arif from PIMS Hospital was called to examine him.
According to the PTI founder, doctors diagnosed a blood clot as the cause of the damage. Despite receiving injections and medical treatment, vision in his right eye has only been restored to 15%.
During the meeting, the PTI founder appeared visibly worried about not receiving timely medical treatment. The report notes that his eyes were watery, and he repeatedly wiped them. He also stated that he has not been allowed to meet his lawyers for the past five months.
Imran Khan raised three primary concerns before the amicus curiae: his health condition, lack of communication with his children, and denial of access to books.

According to the report, he receives only a small heater during winter. In summer, his cell becomes extremely stuffy. He also complained about mosquitoes and insects, and said he is unable to sleep properly during hot weather.
The PTI founder expressed disappointment over not being allowed to meet his sisters and other relatives. He further stated that he is not provided with a refrigerator in the summer, and the cool box given to him is ineffective. He also claimed that he suffered food poisoning two to three times during the summer months.
Recommendations in report
The report recommends that the PTI founder be examined by Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Asim Yousuf, or by another specialist doctor if necessary.
It also notes that the television in his cell is not working and recommends either repairing it or ensuring the provision of books. The report states that providing books would not pose any security threat.
According to the PTI founder, he is not being allowed to meet his lawyers, which affects his fundamental right to a fair trial. The report urges the court to intervene to ensure regular lawyer access.
Furthermore, the report recommends uninterrupted meetings with his family, immediate measures to eliminate mosquitoes and insects from his cell, and the provision of basic facilities such as a refrigerator.
