A subordinate court in the federal capital has cancelled the bail of Najaf Hameed, brother of former ISI chief Faiz Hameed, in an ongoing fraud case, accepting a request filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The Islamabad Special Central Court accepted the bail cancellation application submitted by the Federal Investigation Agency. The decision was announced by Special Judge Central FIA Shahrukh Arjumand, who had earlier reserved the verdict.
Najaf Hameed could not be arrested, as he was absent from court at the time the verdict was announced. Officials confirmed that despite the bail cancellation, no immediate arrest was possible due to his non-appearance.
Najaf Hameed is facing proceedings in a fraud case registered with the Islamabad Special Court Central. The case has remained under judicial scrutiny, with the FIA pursuing legal action against him.
Bail earlier granted
Earlier, the court had granted bail to Najaf Hameed on the basis of reconciliation between the parties. However, the FIA later approached the court, arguing that the bail should be cancelled, prompting fresh hearings.
After hearing arguments, the court agreed with the FIA’s position and cancelled the bail, reversing its earlier order. The development marks a significant turn in the case, with further legal action now expected once the accused is taken into custody.

In January, the Anti-Corruption Circle of the FIA in Islamabad had registered a case against Najaf Hameed, a former circle patwari after forgery in official land records was uncovered in an Islamabad Patwar Circle.
Revenue Officer Abdul Zahoor was also named as an accused in the case, according to officials. According to the FIR, Najaf Hameed, in collusion with another patwari, illegally changed the ownership of a one-kanal plot of valuable land.
The accused allegedly used fake registry documents and bogus transfers to fraudulently acquire the land.
