Pakistan, Russia hold first security consultations about Asian security

Pakistan and Russia have held their first official consultative meeting on security-related matters in Asia. 

Both sides discussed regional security dynamics, emerging alliances, and new avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

According to the Foreign Office, the meeting focused on key aspects of bilateral and regional security. On this occasion, the director general for Asia and Pacific Cooperation from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also met with the spokesperson of Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

The two sides reviewed the regional security environment, the formation of emerging alliances, and potential opportunities to expand cooperation.

The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan greatly values its constructive and cooperative relationship with Russia, and supports a dialogue-based approach to promoting peace and stability in the region.

In September, Pakistan and Russia conducted a joint military exercise that focused on drone warfare among other things, the Pakistani military said.
