Senior Pakistani actor Asad Malik has said that he has no interest in marriage, adding that he believes life can be lived without it.
Speaking on Samaa TV’s morning show Subh Ka Samaa, Malik opened up about his personal life, relationships, and the challenges he faced after losing his mother at the age of 20.
Recalling his bond with his father, Malik said his father raised him with great care after his mother’s death. “He would work at the office, come home in the afternoon to cook for me, and then return to work,” he shared.
He revealed that years later, seeing his father living alone, he arranged his father’s second marriage. “My father could not refuse me,” the actor said.
No love, no marriage plans
In response to a question, Malik admitted that he has never fallen in love, which is why he cannot comment on the feeling. “When I do, I will be able to talk about it,” he added.
He said he likes children but avoids the responsibilities that come with marriage. “Marriage means bringing someone’s daughter into your home and giving her your time and care. At this point, I don’t feel capable of fulfilling those responsibilities,” he explained.
Focus on education and personal choices
The actor also shared that he took a break from showbiz to pursue a PhD, saying academic success was only possible by stepping away for some years.
While stressing he is not running away from responsibility, Malik admitted that marriage requires sacrifices he is unwilling to make. “That is why I don’t want to get married,” he said.
The actor expressed deep regret over not being present at the time of his father’s death, calling it a grief he will carry for life.
