Security forces thwarted an attempted infiltration by militants from across the Afghan border into the Sambaza area of Balochistan, killing 47 insurgents.
According to the security sources, the incident occurred between August 7 and 9, when armed militants—identified as members of the outlawed group commonly referred to as Khawarij—attempted to enter Pakistan’s territory. Swift and decisive action by security personnel prevented the intrusion, resulting in heavy militant casualties.
Sources confirmed that most of the bodies fell on the Afghan side of the border. However, fifteen days later, neither Afghan authorities nor any associates of the deceased came forward to retrieve the remains, which remained exposed and decomposed within Afghan territory.
Following a border meeting with Afghan officials on August 25, the bodies were eventually transported by donkey to the Afghan side.
Officials described the operation as a significant intelligence and operational success, as the militant group was neutralised before it could launch any terror activity.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to defending Pakistan’s borders, stating that all similar threats would be dealt with firmly and without delay.
