The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to launch a nationwide protest movement against the government, with the party's incarcerated founder, Imran Khan, set to lead the campaign from jail.
Speaking to the media after meeting the PTI founder, Senator Ali Zafar confirmed that he had been personally tasked with planning and coordinating the protest strategy. “The founder himself will lead the entire movement from jail. I have been instructed to prepare the plan for this nationwide protest,” he stated.
Zafar clarified that the protest would not be centred in Islamabad, traditionally the epicentre of political agitation. “This will not be limited to the federal capital. The protest movement will be launched across the entire country,” he said.
“The founder said we were pushed to the wall and left with no other option. Now, we must take to the streets,” Senator Zafar added, quoting Imran Khan.
