Loud explosions and gunfire were reported on Thursday near Bahawalnagar Cantonment, prompting alarm among residents.
A large number of people came out of their homes following the incident. Sirens were heard across Bahawalnagar as announcements from mosques urged residents to switch off their household lights.

Separately, Pakistani security sources on Thursday dismissed reports of attacks in Indian-occupied Kashmir, saying there was "no truth" to the claims.
Earlier, a British news agency reported that loud explosions were heard in the Jammu region of occupied Kashmir, with sirens reportedly sounding in various areas.
