Pakistani TikTok star Jannat Mirza is under fire on social media after she declined to comment on the rising India-Pakistan tensions following the Pahalgam attack.
During a public appearance at an event, Murtaza Views, a popular digital platform, approached Mirza to ask about her reaction to the ongoing diplomatic and cultural fallout. Instead of answering, the influencer silently walked away from the camera and gestured with her fingers across her lips, indicating she would remain tight-lipped on the matter.
The moment went viral, and so did the backlash. Her gesture has sparked outrage on Pakistani social media, with many accusing her of prioritising her Indian fanbase and digital reach over taking a clear stance. One critic commented, “She doesn’t have the IQ to answer such a question.” Another added, “She’s only good for cringe content and dances, not serious matters.”

Others suggested she remain silent to avoid a ban on her Instagram or TikTok accounts in India, following the Indian government's crackdown on Pakistani content and celebrity accounts post-Pahalgam.
Jannat’s silence comes at a time when numerous Pakistani actors and influencers, including Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, Sajal Aly, and Ali Zafar, have seen their Instagram accounts restricted in India. Indian authorities have also reportedly banned Pakistani YouTube channels and dramas, escalating digital censorship in the region.
While celebrities like Jannat often stay apolitical, the public expects prominent figures to use their platforms to speak up on national issues, especially during periods of heightened political sensitivity.
