Cricket star Shahid Afridi shared some valuable tips for skipper Babar Azam and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management in India’s Hyderabad ahead of ICC World Cup 2023.
Shahid Afridi said the whole nation is supporting Babar Azam, who is playing with an experienced team, adding all he has to do is to ensure his authority in captaincy throughout the tournament.
“It’s good that Mickey Arthur is also there. His role is very important. Also, Inzamamul Haq is also there in India,” Afridi remarked.
He further said most of the players of the Pakistan cricket team are playing for the first time in India’s Hyderabad.
“Skipper Babar has to deal with the pressure of the game, as the most important thing is to handle the pressure," he suggested.
“Most importantly, the PCB’s senior staff should sit with the captain and give him confidence so that his body language should display bravery.”
Plan of action for Babar Azam
Afridi further said: “One thing Babar must do is to take senior players on board. He must have dinners, watch films, and offer prayers and give confidence to the match winners throughout the tournament.”
It should be visible on and off the ground that Babar Azam has close ties with his match winners and key players wherein he should discuss the ground plan with them.
“The PCB’s management should give confidence to Babar through the entire tournament,” he advised, adding the captain must have an aggressive body language throughout the tournament.
