Foreign companies have stepped up to spearhead renewable energy projects aimed at harnessing wind and solar power in Karachi.
These initiatives are poised to revolutionize the energy landscape by providing citizens with affordable electricity derived from alternative sources.
Private companies will start a project to supply electricity to citizens through alternative sources in collaboration with K-Electric. The letter K-Electric wrote to the private companies has been seen by Samaa TV.
Anticipated to attract an investment of $400 million, these wind and solar power generation projects by private companies are set to be integrated with K-Electric.
Speaking to Samaa TV's reporter Syed Rizwan Alam, the K-Electric CEO has outlined ambitious plans to incorporate 640 megawatts (MW) of solar and wind energy into the existing system within the next two years, promising a significant boost to sustainable energy production.
With 40 domestic and foreign companies vying to contribute to the alternative energy sector, Karachi stands poised to become a hub for renewable energy innovation. Notably, 12 companies from Europe, China, and the Middle East have committed to participate in the solar and wind power project, claimed KE's Moonis Alvi.
These alternative energy projects are earmarked for installation in strategic locations such as Hub, Othal, Bela, and Surjani Town, Alvi announced.
