Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera has rejoined the Lahore Qalandars squad for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025.
He arrived in Lahore earlier this morning, ahead of the team’s crucial clash against Peshawar Zalmi on 18 May. Joining Perera in Lahore were two other overseas players – Shakib Al Hasan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. They have been brought in as replacements for the injured Tom Curran and Daryl Mitchell.
Perera, 34, is renowned for his explosive batting and vast T20 experience. He has amassed over 4,500 runs in T20 cricket.
Upon his arrival, Perera expressed his excitement, saying: “It feels great to be back with Lahore Qalandars. I’ve always enjoyed playing in the PSL, and to return at such a crucial stage is an honour. I’ll give my all to contribute to the team’s success and bring joy to the fans. I’m now looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad at the hotel so we can move forward together.”
Lahore Qalandars' Team Director, Sameen Rana, welcomed Perera, stating: “We’re grateful to Kusal for making himself available at this important stage of the tournament. His experience and energy are a big boost to the squad, and we’re pleased to see him back in Qalandars colours.”
It is pertinent to note that PSL X was temporarily postponed due to rising border tensions with India. The tournament has now resumed from May 17, with the final scheduled to be held on 25 May at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
