Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received on Friday an official invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new spiritual leader of the Catholic Christians, Pope Leo, according to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Minister of State for Religious Affairs, Kheal Das Kohistani, and Punjab’s Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, have also been invited to the ceremony.
Both Kheel Das Kohistani and Ramesh Singh Arora will represent Pakistan at the event, the Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed. The minister of state and the provincial minister are scheduled to depart for Vatican City today, the spokesperson added.
Pope Leo will become the 267th Pope and the supreme head of Catholics worldwide. The inauguration will take place on May 18 at Vatican City.
