In an unfortunate incident, at least eight people – including three women and two children – were killed while two others sustained serious injuries on Saturday after their car collided with a truck near Guddu Interchange on Multan-Sukkur Motorway.
According to reports, the speeding car collided with a trailer, resulting in the loss of eight lives, including women and children, and leaving two individuals injured.
The ill-fated car with 10 family members on board was on its way from Sukkur to Mureed Shakh.
Amongst them were a newlywed couple, who had got married two days ago. They were going to visit the groom’s in-law's house along with other family members.
The bride lost her life in the collision, while the groom sustained injuries.
According to the Motorway Police, the accident was caused due to excessive speed and driver negligence.
Rescue teams and police reached the spot after getting information and shifted the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital.
Police, in the meantime, have started an investigation into the incident, and seized the truck and its driver.
