US President Donald Trump has said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post at the end of this month.
Leavitt is leaving the position to spend more time with her children and family. At 28, she is the youngest White House press secretary in US history. Leavitt took office as White House press secretary in January 2025. Trump has praised her performance and leadership.
Meanwhile, Leavitt said on X, formerly Twitter, that serving as White House press secretary for the past year and a half had been the honour and adventure of a lifetime.
She said becoming a mother and welcoming a new baby while holding one of the world's most demanding jobs had been the most rewarding and challenging period of her life.
Leavitt said that after returning to the White House following the birth of her daughter, she felt she could not give her two young children the time and attention they deserved while continuing in the demanding post.
She said Trump had asked her to remain a top adviser to him outside the White House. She also said she would remain an advocate for the MAGA movement and the Republican Party.
Leavitt thanked Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, the Trump family, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, cabinet members, staff, colleagues and friends for their support.
She also thanked her husband and family for the sacrifices they made while she served as press secretary.
