Spain have qualified for the semi-finals of the FIFA Football World Cup 2026 after defeating Belgium in the second quarter-final.
In the quarter-final played in Los Angeles, Spain beat Belgium 2-1. Former world champions Spain opened the scoring through Fabian in the 30th minute, before Belgium’s De Ketelaere levelled the match in the 41st minute.
Spain concede first goal in tournament
It was the first goal conceded by Spain in the tournament. In the closing stages of the match, Spain secured a decisive lead when Merino scored the winning goal in the 88th minute.
Spain join Les Bleus in semis
With the 2-1 victory, Spain became the second team to reach the World Cup 2026 semi-finals. France had already secured their place in the last four.
