Qatar has advised the temporary suspension of sailing and certain maritime activities across the country until further notice.
The Qatari transport ministry said the precautionary measure covers leisure and fishing boats, jet skis and other small vessels. Vessels operating under international maritime conventions are exempt from the suspension.
No reason has been officially given for the measure. It follows reports that a Qatari national died after being injured by shrapnel linked to military operations in the region, following the disappearance of his vessel.
