Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke by telephone with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and expressed optimism that the next phase of negotiations between the United States and Iran would proceed smoothly and produce positive outcomes following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Dar congratulated the leadership, government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding with the United States. He also conveyed his best wishes for the commencement of the next phase of negotiations and expressed hope that the process would move forward smoothly and deliver positive results.
Araghchi thanked Pakistan for its constructive and sustained mediation efforts.
The two leaders exchanged views on regional developments and voiced serious concern over Israeli ceasefire violations in Lebanon.
Araghchi also thanked Dar for Pakistan’s facilitation in the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals, including eight fishermen rescued at sea by the United Kingdom and 22 crew members recently interdicted by the United States. Their transit arrangements are currently being coordinated by Pakistan.
Both sides underscored the importance of continued engagement and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close contact.
