The federal government has included green subsidies in the budget for the next fiscal year, with Rs476 billion allocated for green equipment under the proposed plan.
According to budget documents, the subsidies will be provided under the Green Initiative project to support environment-friendly measures across key sectors.
The energy sector has received the largest allocation under the green subsidy plan. According to the document, Rs423 billion has been allocated for green subsidies in the energy sector for the next fiscal year.
Subsidies for food, industry and transport
The budget document proposes Rs19 billion in green subsidies for the food sector. For the industrial sector, Rs8 billion has been allocated, while Rs5 billion has been proposed for the transport sector.
The agricultural sector will receive Rs21 billion in green subsidies during the next fiscal year. The allocation is aimed at supporting environment-friendly initiatives and reducing pollution linked to agriculture-related activities.
Ministries directed to reduce pollution
According to the document, every ministry will be required to take steps to reduce environmental pollution.
The government will provide these subsidies under the Green Initiative project as part of its broader effort to promote cleaner practices and support green development.
