An increase of Rs1.78 per unit in electricity tariff for one month is likely.
According to details, the Central Power Purchasing Agency has filed a petition with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority for a monthly fuel price adjustment. The CPPA has sought the increase under the head of January’s monthly fuel adjustment. Nepra Authority will hold a hearing on the petition on February 26.
According to the CPPA, 9.14 billion units of electricity were generated in February and 8.762 billion units were supplied to power distribution companies.
The agency stated that the reference cost for January stood at Rs10.39 per unit, while the actual cost of electricity reached Rs12.17 per unit.
