The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration authorities have arrested a man at Karachi airport on charges of visa fraud.
According to a spokesman, the passenger sought to travel to South Korea under the cover of a visit visa for Thailand. He had entered into an agreement with an agent for Rs2.8 million, including Rs300,000 paid in advance, to reach South Korea and seek political asylum.
Under the arrangement, the agent was to provide forged documents upon his arrival in South Korea after a one-day stay in Thailand.
The accused had earlier been offloaded on February 14, 2026, owing to insufficient funds and non-payment of hotel booking charges. During a search of his luggage, officials recovered a valid South Korean visa effective until April 20, 2026.
The suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Karachi, for further legal proceedings.
