Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has offered Saudi Arabia the opportunity to invest in the Karachi Port to Hyderabad M10 Motorway, as Pakistan seeks to expand regional connectivity and trade corridors.
The proposal came during a high-level meeting with Saudi Minister for Transport and Logistics Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.
During the meeting, Aleem Khan formally invited the Saudi government to invest in the Karachi Port to Hyderabad M10 Motorway project. He emphasized that Pakistan wants to strengthen land connectivity and enhance trade corridors across the region.
The federal minister noted that the M10 Motorway project presents strong opportunities for bilateral cooperation and infrastructure development.
Aviation and maritime sectors
Both ministers agreed to increase cooperation in flight operations, maritime connectivity, and trade corridors between the two countries.
Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser expressed Saudi Arabia’s interest in expanding flight operations for Pakistan and supporting modernization efforts in the communications sector.
Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that there are vast opportunities for heavy investment in Pakistan’s maritime sector, encouraging greater Saudi participation.
Focus on public-private partnerships
The federal minister said Pakistan is keen to promote public-private partnerships (PPP) in the transport sector. He described PPP as a key model for sustainable infrastructure development and long-term economic growth.
Saudi Arabia also showed interest in collaboration under a public-private partnership framework to strengthen bilateral ties in transport and logistics.
Al-Jasser stressed that digitalization and road surveillance are among the most important needs of the current era. He expressed interest in bringing innovation and modernization to Pakistan’s communication infrastructure.
The ministers also discussed the development of the communications sector in Saudi Arabia and shared experiences on improving logistics systems.
Discussions were also held on enhancing mutual cooperation within the context of the OIC conference and promoting collaboration among member countries.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to further expanding development initiatives in communication and logistics sectors between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Deep-rooted ties and economic partnership
Abdul Aleem Khan said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are linked by deep brotherly and religious ties. He added that both countries have strong economic and trade trends, which provide a solid foundation for expanded cooperation.
The meeting concluded with both ministers reaffirming their resolve to boost investment, strengthen transport links, and enhance bilateral relations in the coming years.
