The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has made meningitis vaccination mandatory for international travel.
A notification has been issued to health officers in all districts. According to the directive, under the International Health Regulations 2005, travellers to specific countries must receive the meningitis vaccine before travelling abroad.
Officials said permission for international travel will not be granted without proof of meningitis vaccination. Relevant authorities have been directed to issue vaccination certificates to international travellers without delay.
The vaccination certificate must include the manufacturer’s name, batch number and expiry date. Arrangements for the vaccine will remain the responsibility of the traveller.
