A recent audit has revealed that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has over Rs133 million in outstanding aeronautical and non-aeronautical dues.
According to the Auditor General of Pakistan’s audit report for 2024-25, there is a concerning upward trend in these overdue amounts. The CAA’s 2023-24 financial statements showed that the total outstanding dues amounted to Rs133.260 million.
The report noted that the CAA Headquarters’ recovery cell failed to take sufficient measures to collect the dues. The suspected aeronautical charges accounted for more than 92% of the total gross trade debt, while non-aeronautical charges made up over 83% of the total gross aeronautical debt.
Additionally, the recovery cell did not inform the DG and ADG about the increasing trend in these dues. The audit flagged the irregularities in December 2024, but the authority’s response regarding the rise in outstanding amounts was deemed unsatisfactory.
Meanwhile, a CAA spokesperson said the matter is being re-examined and steps are being taken to reduce the increase in outstanding dues. Several recoveries have already been made, and measures to collect the remaining cases are ongoing.
