The Balochistan government has announced a province-wide suspension of mobile internet services on the occasion of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, citing security concerns.
Internet suspension schedule
According to the Balochistan Home Department, mobile data services, including 3G and 4G, will be suspended from 5pm on Sept 5 until 9pm on Sept 6.
Officials confirmed that an official notification has been sent to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) through the Interior Ministry to enforce the decision.
Areas affected by wireless internet ban
In addition to mobile services, PTCL and NTC wireless internet services have also been directed to remain suspended in several districts. The ban specifically applies to Nushki, Khuzdar, Mastung, Sibi, and Quetta, where security agencies anticipate higher risks during the religious gatherings.
Reason behind decision
Authorities explained that the measure has been taken to maintain law and order during the religious processions and public gatherings of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. Security agencies believe the suspension will help mitigate potential threats and ensure the safety of participants.
