Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari acknowledged on Tuesday the role of President Donald Trump and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio in facilitating a ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
During a press briefing held at the United Nations Headquarters, Bhutto-Zardari said that India had used Israeli drones to launch attacks on Pakistan, adding that India, like Israel, is violating international laws.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, he said, “Pakistan is ready for dialogue. The Indian people also want peace in the region.”
He condemned India's unauthorised strikes within Pakistani territory. “I am here to present Pakistan’s stance regarding the recent tensions with India. On 7 May this year, India conducted illegal strikes inside Pakistan.”
He said that these actions were in violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, adding that civilian infrastructure had been targeted.
“Religious sites were targeted. Dams, innocent civilians and children were attacked—many of whom lost their lives,” he said.
Bhutto-Zardari had criticised the Modi government, saying, “Modi’s administration is violating human rights.”
He appealed to the international community to issue a warning to India and urge them to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
