Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, addressed a gathering at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce, emphasising the government’s stance on business and privatisation.
“It is not the government’s role to engage in or manage businesses,” stated Abdul Aleem Khan. “Instead, our focus is on facilitating the business community.”
He stressed that a thriving business sector is essential for the country's prosperity, which will ultimately benefit the common man.
The minister announced that the government has plans to privatise 24 state-owned institutions, with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) being a top priority.

He assured that transparency will be maintained throughout the privatisation process, and major business groups have already expressed interest in acquiring PIA.
Expressing optimism, he mentioned, “Several major business groups have shown interest in the privatization of PIA.”
Furthermore, Abdul Aleem Khan underscored the crucial role of chambers of commerce in promoting investment. He expressed his commitment to working closely with the Chamber to create an investor-friendly environment and foster economic development.
