The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet greenlit on Monday the Ministerial Perks and Salary Amendment Bill paving the way for a substantial increase in various allowances.
Chief among the amendments is the remarkable surge in the monthly house rent allowance for cabinet members, catapulting from a modest Rs70 thousand to an impressive Rs2 lacs.
This generous adjustment seeks to ensure that cabinet officials are comfortably accommodated, reflecting the provincial government's commitment to their well-being.
Under this revised framework, cabinet members who have not been allotted government residences will now have the option to rent a dwelling up to the value of Rs2 lacs per month, with utility bills also encompassed within this allowance.
Additionally, the bill encompasses a noteworthy increase in the allocation for the renovation of cabinet members' residences, elevating the ceiling from Rs0.5 million to a substantial Rs1 million.
The amendments, set to benefit ministers, advisers, and special assistants, are slated to be ratified in a forthcoming cabinet meeting convened at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad.
Chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the session will also deliberate on various pertinent matters, including budgetary briefings for the current fiscal year and the allocation of funds for deputy commissioners in tribal districts and the Housing Authority of Nishtarabad Colony Peshawar.
Furthermore, the agenda encompasses crucial discussions on procuring essential resources, such as vehicles for district judges and administrative equipment, to bolster departmental operations
. Amendments to the Local Government Act 2019 are also anticipated to be deliberated upon, reflecting the government's multifaceted approach towards governance and public service enhancement.
