Federal minister Dr Musadik Malik has emphasized that the fluctuating prices of petrol in the global market are beyond Pakistan's control, shedding light on the challenges faced by the government in managing fuel costs.
Addressing the media in Lahore on Tuesday, he reassured the public that under the new government, initiatives have been made to stabilize the value of the dollar and rupee, which has contributed to economic stability.
Highlighting concerns about Pakistan's declining annual production by eight to nine percent, Malik underscored the need for proactive measures to address this issue and prevent further economic repercussions.
Malik confirmed that government initiatives have played a significant role in stabilizing the rupee, and also asserted that Pakistan, despite being recognized as a country affected by climate change, is actively striving to mitigate its impact through appropriate measures.
The minister also emphasized the importance of political stability, which is currently crucial for achieving economic prosperity. He expressed hopes that with political stability, economic stability would follow suit.
He further recalled that previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had extended an olive branch to the then PTI government, however that gesture was rejected by former prime minister Imran Khan.
Reflecting on the outcome of the recent general elections, Malik admitted that the results were unexpected for their party, as they did not get the number of seats they expected to grab.
Furthermore, Malik criticized the PTI for what he perceived as a lack of constructive and positive politics, accusing the party of engaging in disruptive tactics rather than focusing on addressing public issues. "We are trying to come forward and find solutions to public problems," Malik stressed.
