The 39th death anniversary of legendary poet and writer Faiz Ahmad Faiz was observed on November 20th each year.
Faiz was born in 1911 in Naroval and earned immense global recognition for his work that influenced Urdu literature. Faiz Ahmed was awarded the Lenin peace award by the Soviet Union in 1962. He died this day in 1984 and is buried in Lahore.

In 1962, Faiz was awarded the Lenin Peace Prize which enhanced the relations of his country with the Soviet Union which at that time had been hostile and antagonistic relations with Pakistan.
