Pakistan and China have resolved to strengthen cooperation in the digital economy and emerging technologies.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference.
Ishaq Dar, Wang Yi exchange views on CPEC, trade and AI cooperation
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China.
The meeting focused on CPEC 2.0, trade, investment, the digital economy, science and technology, and artificial intelligence cooperation. The two sides also exchanged views on recent regional and global developments and matters of mutual interest.
Earlier, Pakistan became a founding member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar signed the agreement for the establishment of the organisation in China.
The Pakistani delegation included Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives Ali Mustafa Dar, Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal Bin Saqib, Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) Dr Syed Asad Ali Gillani, and Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Beijing, Aizaz Khan.
The meeting reflected the shared commitment of both countries to innovation-led development and cooperation in new technologies.
