The opposition alliance has announced the end of all sit-ins in respect of Ramazan.
Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court alongside other opposition leaders, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Raja Nasir Abbas said the protest in parliament had been staged under the platform of the Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan. He said that with the start of the holy month of Ramazan, the sit-in was being called off and the next course of action would be decided.
Raja Nasir Abbas said there were concerns of PTI founder Imran Khan and that his treatment should take place at Shifa International Hospital. He said the founder’s sisters and doctors should be allowed to meet him so that they could be satisfied. He added that the PTI founder had lodged a complaint several weeks ago and questioned why treatment had not been provided in time. He termed it a criminal act, saying there had now been some improvement but ambiguity still remained.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the responsibility for protest and negotiations rested with Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas. He said the leadership had announced the sit-in and they had responded and staged it. He said that as the leadership had now announced its end, they were also ending it.
Sohail Afridi said people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had staged the sit-in of their own accord. He said orders had been issued by the Peshawar High Court and that the court’s directives would be respected. He thanked the people who had endured hardship.
