The first Overseas Kashmir Convention formally commenced in Muzaffarabad today, February 16.
It is the first historic event of its kind, organised to involve overseas Kashmiris in the development of the state. According to details, the convention is held under the auspices of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government, with Prime Minister Chaudhry Faisal Mumtaz Rathore presiding over the event.
Representatives of Kashmiris residing across the world have arrived in Muzaffarabad to take part in the conference. The main purpose of the convention is to encourage overseas Kashmiris to invest in Azad Kashmir, particularly in tourism, information technology, and hydro power sectors.
To address the issues of overseas Kashmiris, the government has also indicated plans to establish special courts and introduce an integrated system of justice. Hundreds of Kashmiri delegations and investors from around the world attended the event, receiving a historic welcome at Kohala.
The AJK government has described the convention as a “game changer” for the economic development of the state.
