“Pakistan is prepared, capable, and open to sustained, trust-based digital collaboration, with technology partnerships serving as a primary driver of future bilateral and multilateral engagement,” stated the High Commissioner, Dr Mohammad Faisal, as a keynote speaker at the AI Indus Week Pakistan event held in London.
Hosted by SK Hub UK, a UK-based innovation centre and business group, the esteemed event was attended by prominent experts in Artificial Intelligence, industry leaders, innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, representatives of the Commonwealth, and members of the British Pakistani Diaspora.
Highlighting Pakistan’s strengths within the IT ecosystem, the High Commissioner underscored that Pakistan’s value proposition is underpinned by structural strengths: a predominantly young population, a rapidly expanding IT and freelancing workforce, steadily growing technology exports, and an increasingly prominent startup landscape.
This foundation is enabling a transition from a cost-competitive outsourcing destination to a capability-driven digital economy that delivers AI, fintech, SaaS, and cybersecurity solutions to global markets, Dr Mohammad Faisal added.
The High Commissioner emphasised that during the London engagement of Indus AI Week Pakistan, we have articulated a forward-looking vision that positions technology at the core of its economic transformation and foreign policy. Framed through the concept of tech diplomacy, the address underscored the transformation of diplomatic missions from traditional political roles to platforms that facilitate innovation partnerships, digital investment flows, and ecosystem-to-ecosystem collaboration.
Recalling the efforts of the in organising a UK–Pakistan roundtable on AI in healthcare, the High Commissioner highlighted that the Conference presented a practical model for sectoral cooperation, resulting in actionable outcomes such as a national AI-enabled health data framework, pilot AI-integrated EMR systems, Responsible AI governance, public–private partnerships, and specialised human capital development.
This initiative demonstrates how emerging technologies can assist Pakistan in overcoming structural limitations while strengthening bilateral institutional connections, he further elaborated.
Earlier, the High Commissioner was presented with a demonstration of the AI technology, which is transforming the world into an IT excellence. A panel discussion followed themed on the impact and challenges the AI is offering to its users and policymakers.
