Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken a major step to support Pakistani exporters by signing a cargo agreement with Indonesia’s national airline, opening new and reliable routes to key global markets.
Pakistan International Airlines has signed a special pro-rate cargo agreement with Garuda Indonesia. Under the agreement, Pakistani exporters will gain uninterrupted and easier access to international destinations.
The deal is aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s air cargo connectivity and expanding export opportunities.
According to PIA, the cargo agreement will come into effect in January 2026 and will remain valid until July 2027. During this period, exporters will be able to benefit from streamlined cargo movement and stable operating arrangements.
Officials said the long-term nature of the agreement will help exporters plan shipments more efficiently.
New routes via Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur
Under the agreement, Pakistani exporters will be able to send their goods to international cities through transit hubs in Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur.
These hubs will act as key gateways, improving connectivity to multiple high-demand markets. The cargo facilities under the deal will cover destinations including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
Pakistani products will also gain easier access to key Asian markets such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Seoul, as well as cities across Australia.
Competitive rates for exporters, agents
PIA said the agreement ensures competitive cargo rates for Pakistani exporters and freight agents. The airline believes the pricing structure will make Pakistani goods more competitive in international markets.
Lower logistics costs are expected to directly benefit exporters, especially those targeting distant destinations.
Boosting exports, air cargo business
A PIA spokesperson said the main objective of the agreement is to increase Pakistan’s exports and facilitate the air cargo business. He added that expanding international cargo partnerships is a key part of PIA’s strategy to support trade and economic growth.
The airline expressed confidence that the deal with Garuda Indonesia will open new opportunities for Pakistani exporters in the Asia-Pacific region.
