Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Monday reaffirmed plans to expand their defence and security cooperation during a meeting between the two countries’ top military leaders at the General Headquarters.
The Saudi Chief of General Staff, General Fayyad bin Humaid Al-Ruwaili, met Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir to discuss shared strategic priorities.
During the meeting at GHQ, General Al-Ruwaili and Field Marshal Asim Munir discussed matters of mutual interest with a particular focus on strengthening defence ties.
According to the ISPR, the interaction centred on expanding the already long-standing and strategic military partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Focus on defence, security and counterterrorism
Both sides emphasized the need for greater collaboration in defence cooperation, security cooperation and counter-terrorism efforts. Officials noted that these areas remain the core pillars of the deep-rooted and historic relationship between the two nations.
The visiting Saudi Chief expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s continued cooperation with the Saudi Armed Forces across various fields.
He also conveyed his resolve to further strengthen the robust bilateral military engagement.
Upon arrival at GHQ, General Al-Ruwaili laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial to pay tribute to Pakistan’s fallen soldiers.
