A landslide occurred near Gandlo in the Moladad area of Gilgit-Baltistan, but no loss of life has been confirmed, according to the official spokesperson.
Some passengers managed to save their lives by jumping from their vehicles, Faizullah Firaq said.
Earlier it was reported a severe landslide struck the Gandlo area within the Chilas region of Gilgit, leaving several people feared trapped under the debris.
Faraq said that several passenger vehicles were caught in the landslide. An emergency has been declared at Chilas Hospital as rescue teams work to reach the affected area.
Officials reported that some passengers may have been buried beneath the rubble.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has taken notice of the incident and directed the Home Secretary to expedite the rescue operation.
