Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has made it clear that Pakistan will not allow any cross-border terrorism from Afghan soil.
During his visit to Peshawar, the COAS met tribal elders in a jirga and appreciated their continued and unconditional support for the security forces. He paid high tribute to the brave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. The tribal elders reaffirmed their complete support for the armed forces against terrorism and the Afghan Taliban.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS said that Pakistan seeks peace with all its neighbours, including Afghanistan. He emphasised that despite the continuation of cross-border terrorist attacks from Afghanistan, Pakistan has shown patience and restraint. He added that Pakistan has promoted diplomatic and economic cooperation with Afghanistan to strengthen bilateral relations.
The COAS said that the Afghan Taliban are backing the factions of Khawarij and Fitna al-Hind and providing every possible assistance to these groups. He affirmed that Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would be cleared of terrorists and their facilitators.
The tribal elders appreciated the Field Marshal’s clear stance on the prevailing situation and expressed their unwavering commitment to peace in Pakistan. They added that the ideology of Khawarij has no acceptance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
