A massive fire broke out at a tyre warehouse in Mawach Goth area in Karachi, which has become uncontrollable.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, fire brigade officials have classified the blaze as a third-degree fire. The fire brigade officials, fourteen fire tenders are engaged in the operation.
Firefighting efforts have been under way for the past three hours. The boundary walls around the affected warehouse are being demolished to control the flames.
Efforts were being made to extinguish the fire from three sides. Strong winds have intensified the blaze and caused it to spread further.
Officials said it may take considerable time to bring the fire under control.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said that 14 fire tenders are at the site, while water tankers have also been sent by the Water Board. He said the strong winds have created difficulties in controlling the fire, and efforts are in progress to secure the nearby areas.
