A fresh spell of thunderstorms is expected across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from October 2 to 7, with warnings of flash flooding and landslides in upper regions of the province.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong winds, thunder and heavy rainfall are likely in most districts during this period. There is a risk of increased water flow in streams and rivers in upper, central and southern districts, including Peshawar.
Landslides may occur in mountainous areas of Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Upper and Lower Chitral, Dir, Khyber, Kohistan, Kolai Palas, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Torghar and North Waziristan.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a notice to all district administrations in the province, advising them to remain alert and take precautionary measures in view of the forecasted rainfall.
