Flooding along the Indus River at Guddu Barrage has intensified, engulfing hundreds of katcha villages as water levels continue to surge.

The situation remains alarming, with authorities warning of an extremely high flood in the coming hours.

Water level rises at Guddu Barrage

For the second consecutive day, a high flood is being recorded at Guddu Barrage. The water inflow has reached 612,269 cusecs, while outflow has been logged at 582,942 cusecs.

Officials confirmed that the river’s level has increased by 70,000 cusecs in just the last 24 hours, raising fears of further damage in low-lying areas.

Katcha villages underwater

The rising water has hit safety barriers in Kandhkot, putting additional pressure on protective embankments. Residents say their problems have multiplied as floodwaters spread across the region.

Hundreds of villages in the katcha have already been submerged, forcing people to leave their homes in search of safety. Livelihoods, crops, and livestock in these flood-hit areas are under severe threat.

Control room issues warning

The control room has warned that Guddu Barrage may face an extremely high flood situation on September 15. Water levels are expected to rise further within the next 12 hours, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.

Sindh CM to review situation

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah is scheduled to visit Guddu Barrage today to assess the ground situation and review safety measures. His visit comes as pressure mounts on local authorities to protect vulnerable communities from further devastation.

Provincial Rain and Flood Emergency Monitoring Cell

The latest figures on water inflow and outflow at rivers and barrages have been released.

At Guddu Barrage, water inflow increased by 67,611 cusecs over the past 24 hours. The current inflow stands at 612,269 cusecs, while the outflow is 582,942 cusecs, according to the Information Department.
At Sukkur Barrage, the inflow has been recorded at 488,820 cusecs, with an outflow of 438,390 cusecs.
At Kotri Barrage, the inflow is 274,129 cusecs and the outflow 261,399 cusecs.
At Panjnad, the water flow has decreased, with both inflow and outflow recorded at 411,116 cusecs, the Information Department reported.
