Heart-wrenching scenes of devastation are emerging from flood-hit villages in the district. In Jago Kalan, floodwaters washed away the dowry items a laborer had painstakingly gathered for his daughter’s wedding.
The affected woman said she had collected the dowry piece by piece over years to see her daughter married, but the raging waters took everything away in moments.
She appealed to the authorities for urgent support as her family struggles to recover from the disaster.
Flood devastation continues in Mandi as Chenab overflows
The destruction caused by River Chenab in Mandi Bahauddin shows no signs of slowing down. Although the water level has dropped significantly at Head Qadirabad, the floodwaters are still rushing toward nearby villages, worsening the crisis.
According to SAMAA correspondent Diwan Adil, around 90 villages have been badly affected. Several houses have collapsed, and thousands of acres of standing crops have been destroyed. Residents, left without adequate official assistance, are carrying out rescue efforts on their own.
Authorities said that ground access to several areas has been restored, and more than 2,900 people have so far been shifted to safe locations.
