A 65-year-old man, Muhammad Aslam, lost his life as floodwaters caused destruction in the Wadala Cheema area of Gujranwala following heavy rainfall.
According to rescue officials, Aslam attempted to save himself by holding onto a nearby tree. However, before rescue teams could arrive, he was swept away by the strong current and died.
Teams from Rescue 1122 and the local administration recovered the body shortly after the incident.
Authorities have issued a warning to the public to stay away from rivers, streams and floodwater.
