Former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, while speaking outside Parliament House, commended Donald Trump for his consistent advocacy of dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.
“God bless Trump,” she remarked, noting his repeated calls for negotiations every few hours.
Khar said Trump is currently showing real leadership, the kind expected from global leaders. “World leaders respond swiftly to conflicts and look for root causes — and that’s what we need now.”
She emphasized that the core issue between Pakistan and India is Kashmir. “Pakistan never seeks escalation; we want resolution. The Kashmir issue must be settled in line with the UN Charter,” she added.
Speaking exclusively to SAMAA TV regarding the threat of war, Khar said she couldn’t offer a direct answer, pointing out that the other side lacks realism. “No rational country launches missiles at a nuclear-armed neighbour — India did it twice,” she said.
She concluded by stating that Pakistan faces an irrational adversary but expressed hope that tensions won’t escalate, as new diplomatic norms are emerging.
